Or better yet, you just have to build a community around members who are interested in talking about the same topic. Once your community gets big enough and has enough valuable information to make it a 'members only' community, you can start charging a monthly subscription.

What a Brilliant Idea!

Yesterday, my world changed, again. I clicked on the facebook link that my friend posted and landed on The Customer Advantage website. This company has taken a step further and made it so much better for the entire community. They've made it more social and given it more of an incentive to join. The more I study it, the more I think it's truly a genius idea. Imagine getting paid when your friend saves money! That's exactly what they've done!

Happy New Year!

I, along with most of the world today, have high hopes for 2011. I have my goals in place and my New Year resolutions ready and waiting to be accomplished. What causes us to lose focus? We don't always get what we want, but we DO get what we expect and on what we continually put our focus. So, if we were somehow able to keep our expectations and focus on those same things that we are most likely focused on today, wouldn't we get what we want? One of my goals for this year is to help you to stay motivated and inspired to be your best and to live your dreams. I know that the best way to help myself is to help others. I know that what I sow, I will reap and what I give, I will get. So, if I'm continuously giving those things I want and focusing on those things I want and helping others with those things I want for myself, 2011 will HAVE to be a good year. Continue reading →

I Love Fall!

The new picture for the blog is one I took last October when my Mums were in full bloom. Wow! They were beautiful! I hope they are that pretty again this year. But, I probably won't get to see them since I will be gone a lot this fall. I'm looking forward to our trip out west. I'm really getting excited!... I'm anxious to see if building websites in the car is going to be as easy as I think it will be. I know there will be some challenges, but I'm curious to see if this makes me want to stay home more or peaks my interest in travel even more. Because I LOVE what I do and if it doesn't fit so well with travel, I'll be staying home more for sure! Why Do I Need My Own Website?

I will admit that I don't get asked this question out loud a lot, but I can see it in a lot of people's eyes when I start talking about everyone needing their own website. I can remember several years ago when I started talking about everyone needing their own personal computer... I got the same kind of looks. Many people still look at me as if I'm just saying that because I'm in the website (or computer) business and I want to sell more websites (or computer services). Actually, I'm in the website/computer services business because that's where things are going in the future. That's not entirely true. I'm in this business because I am passionate about computers and programming and logic and making things work and helping people. I love what I do. I would do it (and often do) even if I didn't get paid. I consider myself extremely blessed that my passions fall in line with where I believe things are headed in the future. I really don't think that's an accident. Looking back I can see where God led me every step of the way... Hopefully, someone reading this will see my heart and somehow it will connect with their heart and they will begin to believe that dreams really can come true. And sometimes those things that seem too good to be true really aren't. If you get nothing else, please believe that nothing is impossible! You can do anything you set your mind to do! You can have anything you desire! You can be anything you want to be! But, you gotta believe. And no one can do the believing for you. Continue reading →

What DO You Do Again? aka My Online Resume of Sorts

It's been over 7 months since I quit my full-time job to stay home again. It's a little different this time around since I'm now a single Mom. Thank goodness my children are older now and don't require as much hands-on care as they did before, so that I can find a few hours each day to get some work done. ... Today I help people set up their websites. I provide the computer (hosting) where their website will live, the domain (website name), and I help them build their website or build it for them. I can even provide or recommend a designer or a pre-made design or template for their website. I also teach classes about web development, computer software, online marketing, how to make money from home, how to and why they should start home-based businesses, and programming. I think I enjoy the teaching more than anything else because it allows me to help more people in less time. ... I love being a free-lance programmer. I love working from home. I love being at home and spending time with my kids. I love traveling and being able to make money from anywhere - even when I sleep. And I love teaching and helping others to do the same. As our society transitions from an industrial society to an information society, I'm glad that I've gained the experience and skills to help others make that transition easier.
