Lessons from the Puzzle (Fitting the Pieces Together)

When I look back over my life, it seems as though one day I woke up and my life looked like a puzzle I had just opened and poured out of the box (My Sister helped me to see it this way). All the pieces were there, but they were a jumbled mess. Some were upside down and all I could see was the brown cardboard backing. Others were hidden under the other pieces. But, they were all there…

The problem I used to have was that I didn’t realize that I needed clarity. As a matter of fact, I was so busy blaming every body for taking my pieces or dumping me out of the box, that I never realized that all my pieces were there. When I finally realized that the pieces are there, and that I just needed to turn them around and get them in the right place, my life started getting better and clearer. The greatest part is that the more pieces I put in place, the fewer misplaced pieces there are left. It also makes finding the spots for those pieces a lot easier too. Continue reading

Getting the Emotions Out of the Equation

When I wallow in the bad emotion of hating exercise, it drains my energy! It takes a lot of energy to hate something. It takes a lot of energy to come up with a million reasons of how I can get out of my exercise today. It takes more mental energy to feel all that than it takes physical energy to just go ahead and DO IT! So, ‘taking the emotion out’ means to do it without thinking about it at all – or do it with the right attitude and thinking that God would place on it…

I AM saying that some things aren’t worth good or bad emotions. They are just there. They are just something we do. And we just do them without thinking. They take little mental energy that way. Our metal energy is saved for the things that REALLY matter such as our passions, our relationships, and our new and exciting experiences.

Jan. 1984: How critics reviewed the Mac – Apple 2.0 – Fortune Brainstorm Tech

It’s fun for me to look back at the past and remember just how far technology has come in a short amount of time. I remember when these computers came out. I also remember how silly I thought the mouse looked and wondered if it would ever catch on. At the time, I was working at a hospital changing out the 50 pound hard drives and printing reports on gigantic green-bar paper at night and going to technical school by day for my A.S. in Computer Data Processing.
