Trail of Tears Mural - Princeton, KY

Trail of Tears Murals

If you’ve ever been to Princeton, KY you’ve surely seen the Murals on one of the buildings in downtown Princeton painted by Richie McKinney. Well, as of yesterday, there are two new murals to add to the beauty of the city. And I am one proud Mama because my son, Matthew, helped to paint the murals!

Matthew and several other art students helped Mr. McKinney with this newest set of Murals. We have been driving back and forth from Nashville to Princeton for quite a while now as he has participated in painting these murals of Native Americans and new settlers moving into the Princeton area. The murals also show the cave that is located in the Big Springs park in Princeton.

Painters

Yesterday, we attended a ceremony to unveil the murals and dedicate them to the city. The students still have a little touch up work to do, but I think they did an AWESOME job!!!

It’s been really interesting to watch the progress from week to week! I have been taking pictures each time we’ve traveled there to help paint. You can see many more pictures of the painting process from start to finish here.
